> recent favourite post on nowness delving into the archives of sweden’s moderna museet
there’s something incredibly fascinating about seeing the storage + ‘behind the scenes’ of museums + galleries - all the wonderful archives of major works of art wrapped in bubblewrap, strapped into wooden crates + tucked away
also interesting to see the new direction of the museum, having visited the beautiful site on my honeymoon. looking forward to returning there

> the meeting between art + design - in its breadth + depth - is something that has been central to my studies in the past, to my professional life + my interest

these images from wallpaper magazine's feature on delhi-based artist bharti kher immediately fascinates me. functional objects - sometimes manipulated, sometimes left as they are - displayed 'just-so' in a gallery setting, given meaning beyond their original functional purpose + offering a platform for a cultural dialogue [in other words, curated in the true sense of the term]. the interlocking of elements such as physical place [india + the gallery setting in ny], emotional connection with objects [of familiarity + domestic life] together with the artist's discussion of gender, spirituality + mythology creates a real multi-layer experience. just great

> why have i not seen crane.tv before?? a huge resource of videos to trawl through. this kenneth grange ‘in conversation’ is fantastic, offering a little glimpse at the mind behind such well-known british designs

> the gallery will once again be part of chapter art centre’s ‘art car bootique’ - a one day open-air event where cultural + creative groups of cardiff take over the centre’s car park on 15 april. here are some not-particularly-great images of the gallery’s pitch at last year’s event - fingers crossed for a repeat of the glorious weather

> there is a big - very exciting - announcement in the pipelines ready to burst out at the project/ten office, but it will have to remain secret for a little while longer… this image is a sneaky clue. join the gallery’s mailing list here to be with the first in the know
gosh, it’s going to be good…

> some cultural highlights from last week’s london trip:

firstly, no photos, but it was fantastic to see three of my favourite 20th-c painters included in victoria + albert museum's british design from 1948 - graham sutherland, john piper + one of the best examples of william gear's work i have seen

secondly, the aram gallery's bauhaus live exhibition, which introduced me to the work of design-duo, BCXSY [terrible image 1 + 3] and the apparent gravity-defying martino gamper bench

the louboutin ‘walk into illusion' event by double decker at the design museum was a great evening - fantastic feel to the exhibition, especially the mesmerising 3d hologram of dita von tesse, with a nice selection of fashion films to boot

richard long at tate modern [skipped straight past the hirst…]  - i’m always attracted to his work. clean, simple lines, that clash between art + object again. the name of the artist with the paper work has escaped me, but again, so visually striking
